Crias: Braecroft Lady Bridget, Braecroft Merlin

Clover is a beautiful white, brown and grey llama. She is about 5 years old and was one of the first llamas to arrive on farm. She had her first cria, Lady Bridget in March 2006  and proved herself to be an attentive mum. She had another cria, this time a boy we  called Merlin in April 07.

Clover  slipped both her autumn 07, spring 07 and autumn 08 pregnancies so is currently empty. I think her conception problems may be due to her weight as she is a little overweight at the moment. I am trying to get her to lose a few kilos so she will be ready for spring mating. I will mate her to Chilli as all her other matings have been to Elijah.

Clover is my most protective llama and the herd leader. I decided to keep her in my pet herd as I know she makes the others feel safe and every herd needs a leader.

The day Clover arrived she figured out I was the one with the treats so she befriended me and has been training me ever since. My training is going well and now I often have some pellets in my pocket that I can sneak to her without the others knowing.

Clover is easy to handle, although like most camelids she is a little aloof and prefers not to be touched. However I can body score her without restraint and she will tolerate a scratch on the neck if she feels in the mood. She only seems to have this relationship with me and does not like Ken reaching out to touch her at all, I think this is why Clover makes me feel special.

Shortly after Clover arrived she had a grass seed in her eye so needed treating for about a week until her eye healed. She was so good and stood still, cradling her head in my neck while Ken administered the drops. It was around that time that I fell completely in love with llamas.

Thank you Clover for showing me how wonderful llamas are and helping me to make the decision to make them a big part of my life.

Clover and her daughter Lady Bridget
