Braecroft is home to a number of animals, including llamas, horses, dogs, pet sheep, chickens, Lancelot the rooster & George the cat. Apart from providing the best possible care I can for all the animals that share our farm my focus is on training llamas. They are really wonderful creatures to work with, gentle, curious and willing. In particular I have had great success with clicker training, the boys really enjoy this form of training a run to the yards so they can be first. For many years I ran our small property as a alpaca/llama breeding business. However in July 08 after much deliberation Ken and I decided to close down the business. We have sold half the herd and the other will be kept here as my companions and training partners. My new goal is to have one of the best trained small herds in Australia. I want to clicker train all of my llamas - ideally it would be great if they all learnt to halter, lead and stand still for toenail trimming and shearing. It would make their routine management so less stressful for all of us. I am committed to the camelid community and have recently taken on the position as secretary for the Llama Association of Australasia (LAA). I am also helping to arrange the 2008 AGM/conference and hope to be involved with the formation of a NSW Llama Branch. All our llamas are registered with the Llama Association.
