Our New Shed

A few months age after a couple of days of heavy rain and a shelter with a floor so muddy no one wanted to use it Ken and I decided we needed to replace the existing shelter with something a bit better. The problem with the original shelter was a leaky roof where the iron joined together and run off flowing through the base of the shelter,  which we tried rather unsuccessfully to fix with some drains.

I hit the net to do a bit of research and made a list of what the new shed was going to have to accomplish, here is what I came up with

  • Must service three paddocks

  • Can't be dark or feel enclosed

  • Must stay dry

  • Flexible interior design

  • Contain a creep feeder

  • Incorporate 3 x 3m training pens and a chute

  • Have an awning

  • Have an enclosed section for feed and equipment

  • be convenient to load feed into

  • Be organized

  • Have a seat for me

  • Have a loading area

  • Be easy to use

  • Allow for stress free herding

  • Have the ability to include a fully enclosed Intensive care pen

That seemed a lot for one shed to do so we decided on an three sided shelter with a 2m awning, one enclosed bay with roller door and two personal access doors plus to also build an attached set of yards to house the chute and training pens. This is the end result
